Connecticut Misdiagnosis of Strokes Attorneys

Lawyers for Stroke Misdiagnosis Victims

At times caused by insufficient blood supply to some part of the brain, and often the result of blockage or disease in the carotid, vertebral or vasilar arteries — strokes claim nearly 150,000 American lives each year. People who survive strokes (over 6 million annually) but who are not diagnosed and treated in a timely way — may be left with permanent brain damage or worse. Overall, strokes are the third leading cause of death in the United States.

If a stroke misdiagnosis or delay in treatment has significantly impacted you and your family — call or contact D'Amico, Griffin and Pettinicchi, LLC, today. We handle medical malpractice and stroke claims on a contingency basis. You pay no attorney fees unless we are successful in recovering compensation on your behalf.

Symptoms of a transient ischemic attack (TIA for short, often a precursor to an actual stroke) or a full-blown stroke include:

  • "Drop" attacks (a sudden sensation of numbness or weakness in the face, arms or legs, especially when only one side of the body is affected)
  • Visual changes (difficulty with one or both eyes ... may be intermittent or sudden, steady and constant)
  • A sudden, severe headache
  • Slurred speech or a sudden inability to organize your thoughts and find the words needed to articulate what is happening to you
  • Dizziness or loss of coordination

Failure to diagnose and timely treat stroke most often occurs in the emergency room setting but can occur in other health care settings as well. If the proper tests are done for patients who exhibit or complain of stroke-like symptoms — medication can be given generally in the first three hours from the time of onset of stroke symptoms which will dissolve blood clots and restore adequate blood flow to the brain.

We will thoroughly review your case and submit your medical records to a highly-qualified, medical expert to determine whether medical malpractice occurred. If so, we will aggressively pursue justice on your behalf.
